Secret Superpowers In Your Chart: Chiron, Natal Eclipses, & Advanced Astrology with Meg Moonbeam
Advanced astrology teacher Meg Moonbeam joins Chance Garton for a lesson on personal astrology that goes well past sun signs. How does a natal chart show who you're meant to be? Tune in for practical answers.
Meg Moonbeam, a Western astrologer working full time since her 2020 Saturn return, joins Chance to break down personal astrology past sun-sign basics: eclipse babies and the prenatal and postnatal eclipse points, Chiron as both wound and superpower, and the North Node as a working compass for major life decisions. Along the way they cover why tropical astrology tracks the seasons rather than the visible constellations, how the outer planets function as long-term teachers rather than excuses, and where AI genuinely helps a working astrologer versus where it quietly does the thinking for you.

Core themes
Eclipse Babies and the Hidden Chapter of the Chart
Meg explains that anyone born within about five days of a solar or lunar eclipse carries that eclipse's energy especially strongly, a group she calls eclipse babies, and includes Donald Trump, RFK Jr., and a surprising number of British royals in that category. The chart's prenatal eclipse works like a second south node, showing the themes a person is already comfortable with, while the postnatal eclipse works like a second north node, pointing toward the growth that is actually available this lifetime. Chance walks through his own chart as a live example: a prenatal solar eclipse at 17 degrees Pisces lining up with his natal Sun, Venus, and Mercury there, and a postnatal lunar eclipse at 24 degrees Aquarius landing right on his Chiron in the 11th house, the exact placement behind his long discomfort with networks and groups.
Chiron the Wounded Healer, and the Return Happening Right Now
Chiron, discovered in 1970 at 3 degrees Taurus, is named for the centaur healer of Greek myth who was accidentally struck by one of Hercules' poisoned arrows and never fully recovered, and Meg treats its placement in a chart as the map of a person's deepest wound and greatest gift at once. Right now, as Chiron approaches 0 degrees Taurus, the whole collective is moving through a Chiron return, which Meg frames as a shared initiation tied to the changing money system and the slow release of the past eight years of Uranus in Taurus. Meg's own Chiron in Leo in the fourth house shows up as family members who never understood her path into astrology and punk music, while Chance's Chiron in the 11th house of Aquarius shows up as a decades-long feeling of not being accepted by groups and networks, a wound he now recognizes and answers with a simple internal move: I see you, Chiron, and I'm doing this anyway.
The North Node as a Decision-Making Compass
Meg treats her North Node in Sagittarius, in the eighth house of Scorpio, as the clearest evidence for how the placement actually works: choosing it in 2020 meant leaving her South Node comforts in Gemini, in the second house, behind in Canada to move to Belgium for her husband Jens, launch her astrology business publicly, and commit to a marriage, all classic eighth-house and Sagittarius themes. She checks every major life decision against that compass, and describes the North Node's pull as something that feels destined and effortlessly supported once a person actually steps toward it, in contrast to the heavier, stuck feeling of staying in South Node territory. Chance connects this to his own North Node in Pisces in the eighth house, which lines up with both the birth of his daughter and his ongoing work in biofield tuning, using tuning forks to locate and release repressed emotional energy in the body.
Western Tropical Astrology vs. Sidereal: Sign Is Not Constellation
Meg draws a clear line between a zodiac sign, a fixed 30 degree slice of sky tied to compass direction and the seasons, and a constellation, the actual star pattern currently overhead, a distinction she says clears up most of the confusion people have about why sidereal and Western astrology disagree. Because Western tropical astrology is anchored to the solstices and equinoxes rather than to the visible stars, the sun is always at 0 degrees Cancer on the summer solstice no matter what constellation happens to sit behind it that year. Over a cycle of roughly 20,000 years, the precession of the equinoxes slowly shifts which constellation lines up with which tropical sign, which is why sidereal and Western charts read the same sky so differently even though both systems track real, working aspects between the planets.
AI as Astrologer: Tool for Research, Trap for Thinking
Meg credits astrologer David Palmer, known as the Leo King, and his Hypergate AI tool with speeding up her historical research, letting her instantly pull up what happened the last time a rare configuration like the current Saturn Neptune conjunction occurred. Both hosts agree that AI-made thumbnails are now table stakes for any working YouTuber and that AI search tools can surface material buried by heavily gated mainstream search engines, but they draw a hard line at using AI to think for you, warning that outsourcing that process too far leaves a creator noticeably, measurably duller. Meg ties the technology astrologically to Aquarius and Uranus, and to the current Pluto in Aquarius transit, arguing that AI is simply part of the future arriving on schedule rather than something to resist.
Quotes
“Chiron, for those of you who don't know, is the asteroid that we associate with our wounds. We call him the wounded healer.”
“Was that guy just inspired in that moment to call it the right thing? Or because he called it that, it started to reflect that? These are the mysteries that keep me up at night.”
“Yes, it can be a very vulnerable part of life, but you actually have a superpower in it.”
“That's what biofield tuning is. I'm literally using tuning forks to help people figure out where they have repressed emotional energy, and it's affecting their body.”
“At the end of the day, if there's one thing that you need to pay attention to, it's your north node.”
“Any kind of blaming is the worst thing that you can do for yourself.”
“People like Donald Trump, RFK Jr., these are eclipse babies, and it's very interesting that a lot of British royal family members are eclipse babies too.”
“If nothing else, replace search engines with AI tools that can search the internet.”
